Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg is a city filled with charm and history.  It is located halfway between Richmond, our state capitol, and Washington, D.C.  You?ll find historic homes and a variety of restaurants located on the banks of the Rappahannock River.  The city is bordered by Stafford County to the north and Spotsylvania to the south.

During the Civil War, many major battles were fought here, including the Battle if Fredericksburg, one of the biggest victories for the Confederacy.  Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania contain four historical battlefields that encompass 9,000 acres, which are protected national parks.

Some of the city?s homes date back to the 1700s, including the beautifully maintained home of Mary Ball Washington, George Washington?s mother.  The candlelight tour in December highlights many downtown homes for public viewing.

The city is serviced by Amtrak and the railroad station provides transportation service to commuters who work in northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Filled with eclectic stores and numerous antique shops, Fredericksburg is a delight to visit and a wonderful place to live.
